Territory wine

Dunord Vitícola is an exploration of the geology of the North of Mallorca, seeking its identity in the character of the wines we make. 

To produce wines with identity, with terroir, and for it to be found inside the glass, neither the ecosystem nor the environment must be altered, and efforts must be made to ensure that the vines transmit all the nutrients from the soil to the grapes, so that they are concentrated to the max.

Our vines are cultivated in a type of soil with a high content of mineral carbonate, a deep and dark colored soil, with a good content of organic matter that allows more water to be retained naturally. Only 200 meters away, we find one of the two only mines from which charcoal was extracted on the island of Mallorca, which indicates that we are located in a very special and very unusual point, where for thousands of years large amounts of plant sediments were deposited only in that area.

The soil is not only the vine’s habitat, it is the element through which it will be nourished. and together with the climate and the way they are cultivated, determine the attributes of the grape. We were determined to cultivate our vines without any kind of irrigation, and to reduce the distance between vines so that they compete with one another exploring the soil with their deep roots down to absorb all nutrients and water.
